Cheer

Cheerleading is a wonderful opportunity to be a role model on campus and to promote school spirit. This team consists of students who work well together, MOST who try out with no previous cheer experience.

Mighty Oak Cheer 2026 - 2027

Tryouts: Tryouts last for several weeks, with cuts at the end of each week. Tryouts will run 2:45-3:45 Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from Monday 8/24 through Wednesday 9/9 in the cafeteria and you are expected to be at each session.  Please wear AN OLD SHIRT WITH YOUR FIRST AND LAST NAME WRITTEN LARGELY IN SHARPIE, running shoes and something you can work out in. No jeans. Due to safety, longer hair must be tied back. Your number will be assigned on Friday 8/21 in the Google Classroom. The list of who made the squad will be posted the evening of Wednesday Sept 9th on the Cheer Google Classroom. There will be 40 available spots on the team. Returning girls are also trying out, and a spot is not guaranteed. 

In order to sign up for tryouts you (the student) need to join the Cheer Google Classroom AND have all of your sports paperwork, including a sports physical signed by your doctor, submitted to home campus by Thursday August 20th: The google classroom code is: rwslsq6    

Parent Meeting: There will be a parent meeting on Wednesday 9/16 in the cafeteria. Each student on the squad will need a parent or parent representative there. A representative could be a grandparent, aunt or uncle, or close family friend but every student will need an adult there. Please contact Ms. Tindell before Friday 9/11 if this is an issue.  Parents must sign up for our app prior to the parent meeting and uniforms will need to be paid for AT THE PARENT MEETING. Please bring the exact amount, in an envelope, with your child’s name written on it. See below for more information on cost.

Cost: Includes uniform, warm-ups, cheer shoes, bag, practice attire and a sweatshirt. The total cost will be around $350 and the girls keep everything purchased. (The exact amount will be available soon before the parent meeting, please plan on $350) The money will be due the day of the parent meeting and will need to be the exact amount paid in cash or with a money order, change will not be available. Cash is required so that uniforms can be ordered that day. (Accepting checks adds three to four weeks to our ordering time)  Unfortunately the school does not have the funds to cover the cost of uniforms. Receipts will be provided at the meeting.
